Team Speak Battle Communications

              Version: 2.2  Last Updated 2-12-07

This is a rough draft of how Team DA will communicate when directed by ranking members within the clan. I will explain the core of TSBC in its current version.

GUIDELINES:
Often, when we perform actions in game, we have an immediate need to speak. When using TSBC, clan members are required to consciously think about what they are saying or what they will say prior to keying their microphones. The things we say should be clear, concise, and with direct purpose. TSBC is limited to IN GAME use only. TSBC is an active ongoing project to improve Clan communications. The idea is to have effective communications when fighting enemies in BF2. We have won SEVERAL matches in the past because of TSBC so it is effective when utilized.

RULES:

1) Chat may only be used in relation to game activity. (Example; enemy locations and support requests as well as ongoing operations) Say only what’s IMPORTANT!

2) Chatter, garble, and useless conversation will be reduced as much as possible (Example; do not explain for 5 minutes how you killed someone via gravity when you were parachuting a HALO drop!)

3) There is a command structure when using TSBC. You will either give or follow orders. The Commander gives orders to the Squad Leader. The Squad Leader gives orders to squad members. All users are expected to practice TSBC when a Commander or Squad Leader initiates it by saying “TSBC ACTIVE”.

4) Each time you key the microphone; your conversation will be no longer than 5 seconds.

5) TSBC will be activated verbally. The Squad Leader or Commander will inform members joining a game late in the process that TSBC is active.

6) If a superior requests you are not using TSBC properly…. then you must start doing it…no questions asked. If you don’t…you could be punished by clan leadership. TSBC guidelines are strict and have been created to win public games or matches, scrimmages, and tournaments. TSBC exists to make Team DA an efficient organized team during games in which we participate. Team Speak Battle Communications was NOT created for expressing power trips by someone in charge nor does it exist to control players or limit their fun factor online. This program exists, over all, to bring out the fullest joy of clan domination on the battlefield!

7) Users, at some point, may be required to make TSBC training events and must be aware of the policies and guidelines within this document. ALL TSBC users are required to read this document prior to participating in clan activities. Clan members with leadership roles are responsible for making consistent use of this document...when leaders use it often, then other members will use it by instinct over time.

VOCABULARY & TERMINOLOGY: (expected to grow)

Roger / Affirmative - OK, I understand.

Will-Co - I will comply, I will follow your orders.

Negative - No, Not True.

Target - Enemy in extremely close proximity.

Flank / Flanking - This is typically the most effective tactic against aggressive players that need to be stopped, killed, or distracted from advancing. Use it OFTEN in communication. Telling clan members that your flanking will remind your team to lay down suppressive fire or to set up to assist.

Advancing - I am no longer defending and now moving to a new location.

Hold / Holding - Use this to inform others that you are temporarily immobile or waiting for back up.

How Copy - Did you hear what I just said and understand?

Copy All - I heard and completely understand everything you just said.

BREAK, BREAK, BREAK - Word used to cut in when someone else is talking in order to provide vital information that is time sensitive. Don’t abuse it!

ETA - Estimated Time of Arrival.

Standby - Hold this position, Wait, I will respond momentarily.

Regroup - Everyone merge and prepare to change tactics or strategy.

Defend - Defend position or target.

Attack / Engage - Attack nearby target

Posting - I am taking a defensive posture and /or creating a choke point. (An area that is well defended and the enemy gets cut off and killed while advancing.)

On My Mark - I’m spotting the enemy or have spotted the enemy (look at your HUD for reference)

    ___________________________________________________________________________

Example Phrases:

-Target, LAV, On My Mark and Engaged. (There is an enemy LAV/APC, I have spotted him on the HUD, it is firing at our troops.)

-Multiple Targets, on my mark, I’m posting. (I have spotted several enemy units on the HUD and will defend my location.)

-Be advised; Tank in-bound from the North. (Hey be careful because an enemy tank is coming our way from the north on the HUD.)

-BREAK, BREAK, BREAK, target 3 troops, my location and engaging. (Sorry for cutting in on your conversation but there are 3 enemy troops nearby and attacking our position; we will die and lose the control point if you don’t assist.)

-(From Trademark to Iamgod) Iamgod, Post here, we are advancing north.
(From Iamgod to Trademark) Roger, Will-Co, ETA on that location in 30 seconds.

(Trademark orders Iamgod to defend a location as he advances north. Iamgod replies and agrees…he informs Trademark that he will arrive in 30 seconds or less.)

In many of the above phrases, many other clans will take up to an entire minute to say even 1 of them because they don’t have a communications policy…sometimes they wont even say them at all because they don’t have a chance to speak because there is too much chatter going on! In our clan…we can say any one of the above phrases back and forth in 5 seconds or less! Like I said, we have won matches purely on effective, organized, verbal communication! Thanks to TSBC!

Expect this document to be updated and improved. Go to www.teamdeadly.com for latest updates and changes. Thank you for your participation, feedback, and support of this document created by me, Trademark. I look forward to helping our clan become a legacy and competitive force to be challenged. Much of this information may seem tedious or even impossible to actually use. It takes time to get used to many of the basic phrases but they get easier with practice and in the past...they have been proven to make a difference. Most notably, sometimes quick and precise communications have made the difference in a single second that caused a player to live or die. When you experience the thrill of victory because you responded decisively...in conjunction with your clan members...You live the meaning of the name:

Deadly Assassins!

Play to win...or don’t play at all!
